During my minor polymer product engineering, I worked on a project for Vitters Shipyard. Vitters builds million dollar boats for high-end clients. Therefore they constantly have to be very flexible to fulfill the client needs. We looked specifically at the switch plate. They want to have the ability to combine parts from different suppliers (buttons, fronds, materials) from switch plates, to meet client needs. They asked us to research the possibilities to use 3D printing in this process and calculate what this will cost. For this we looked at all the present techniques and did some practical testing.
